13 hours - some thoughts

13 Hours: the secret soldiers of Benghazi

A stong movie that reflects the willingness of a warrior to be a warrior. The willingness of a warrior, to use their talent as a warrior, to enter dangerous space to protect and serve others.

Not much has changed since the “300” Spartans defended Greece. While the 300 Spartan warriors defended Greece, the politians were engaged in intellectual machinations .
Not much has changed since the egos of the high priests incited the crowd to crucify Jesus, because He dared to speak of relationship to God, to each other in a loving manner; because he dared to speak of the evil of egos.

13 hours reflects the callousness, indeed the unthoughtout self-serving policy of the US government and the power people in Washington when they have to deal with other their own people and the people in other countries.

Perhaps it was a mistake to establish a consular mission in Libya. Once our people were there, the inexcusable behavior of the government to refuse to backup our people with adequate support is shameful. Who ordered the fighter jets to stand down? Who ordered the rapid deployment troops who were sitting in the plane, ready to go, to stand down? It is not rocket science to know that the consular people and the secret soldiers were put in harms way at the very beginning. It is not rocket science to know that they might need backup very quickly.

This is not the first time the US government acted in a shameful manner. We permitted and facilitated slavery; we drove the native Americans into reservations; we forced Japanese Americans into concentration camps. All of this, was done by our government to our own people. The list continues. Perhaps the US government doesn't want to learn from the past. Perhaps the government feels that our people are expendable whether they are warriors or citizens representing our country. Perhaps the only thing that matters to the power politicians in Washington is their own ego.
