HAPPY JESUS' BIRTHDAY

Today we celebrate the birth of a man, who was intimately connected with God.

His name is Jesus.

He was not interested in statistics. He didn’t deify timing, status, ego, wealth, territory. He didn’t try to motivate (1) people by dangling a carrot in front of them … if they do this … then they will achieve this physical object or reward.

He was a man who spoke in parables, stories that open windows on a deeper reality.
The people of his time, perhaps the people of today, didn’t appear open to the deeper reality, they preferred the hollowness of what appears to be facts, i.e. timing, status, ego, wealth, possession of territory.

He witnessed to many dimensions of reality. He was open yet he did not force others to be open to him or to his message. He tried to inspire (2) people to connect with their own internal goodness and to allow the connection with Source Energy (God) and to God’s creation both animate and inanimate.

He didn’t evangelize, that is, try to have people convert to Christianity. He didn’t promote Judaism. His message went beyond the religions of Christianity and Judaism and later Islam.

The word Christ seems to have two distinct meanings. Many people think of Christ as a “savior.” The jews were expecting the Christ to be a physical savior who was to build a physical kingdom. People who are Christian believe Jesus to be a spiritual savior. A  GOD-MAN to rescue them from themselves, to create value for them.

The second deeper meaning of the word Christ (savior), is “the anointed one.” The anointed one, who is the messenger from God. As the anointed messenger, Jesus' role was to illuminate the bond between God and humans, to witness to the beauty of love and positive creativity.

Jesus as the “anointed one” as the messenger from God, wanted us to accept, connect and radiate the beauty of God by connecting with our own divine nature. Connecting with Yahweh (3), would enable us to be the "self-actualizing" person that Dr. Maslow talks about from his psychological perspective. (4)

His message moved from the ten commandment list to the heart felt, connection with God and with God's creation. First, Acknowledge and Allow the connection with, and love of God. Second, love yourself in a positive way and to love your neighbor, fellow man or woman, as you love yourself.

I wonder if the major religions, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam sometimes miss the message of this God~man, Jesus.

My wish for the readers of my blog, is that we meditate of the messages of Jesus, this man of stories and radiate our meditation so all can see the fire, the light of his message.

Happy Jesus’ birthday !

(1)Motivate - cause a desire, brought about from an external source, to bring about a reward or acknowledgement e.g. a person offering a carrot on a stick to get a donkey to move forward.

(2) Inspire - to enable, to light a fire within, i.e. to allow internal passion to create

(3) Yahweh - "I Am Who Am," the term the Jewish people used to call God
