The Psychic Mirror

The Psychic Mirror

According to the dictionary, a mirror is a reflective surface that “reflects a clear image … a thing regarded as accurately representing something else.” It is a tool that is used in many stories, in many movies.

The above photo is a reflection of trees in a small pond.

It’s ripples reflects the beauty, the essence of the water and the trees. The ripples take the viewer beyond the static physical characteristics of the leaves and the water.

For some a mirror is a device to check if their hair is combed, their face shaven, their lips glossed; a fragmented snapshot of a point of interest is all they see. Interestingly, many people that I have spoken with, don’t use the mirror to see themselves. They don’t look at their eyes. They don’t look at the curves of their face. They don’t look at their facial expressions, the reflections of their skin. They skim small details without seeing themselves. They don’t see their spirit. Their essence, their value is hidden by the surface details.

The potential for Looking beyond the surface of the refection seems to be an invitation to the twilight zone … a strange place of fear or doubt. They might see imperfection. They might visualize the patterns that they had learned from early childhood. Patterns they absorbed into their blueprint from the moment of conception to the age of six.[1] What they might see are elements from misguided teachers, a distorted environment that altered their perception of the reflection of who they actually are.

They might see patterns that they were taught, and that for a number of years, they lived by. Hummm … It could be an unsettling experience.

The psychic mirror has the potential to reflect the subconscious …

enabling the person to ask questions. Looking at a psychic mirror might enable them see who they are.

A person can ask themselves, have I lived according to patterns that have not helped me to activate my essence. Could these patterns have provided a shield, a distorted sense of who I am?

Some people are afraid to see who they are. Reflections of who they are, their inner state is unsettling.

At first glance, the reflections of the mirror can reflect a state of imperfections, a state of ugliness … a state of disconnection from happiness, from others. It doesn’t show the makeup, the mask … it goes too deep and can reflect the dark side of the soul. The. Depth of the psychic mirror can also reveal qualities within the person, qualities that could enable a person to stand out.

When I work with clients, and ask them “what do you see when you look in a mirror?”

They hesitate – they become uncomfortable. They may even ask “what do you mean?” Looking into a mirror seems to raise their anxiety or fear level.

If I continue with the question, they give a superficial response. They seem very nervous about what they might see … what their face … eyes … expression might reveal, not only to me but more importantly to themselves.

They sometimes find a quality about themselves and preface that quality with “I think I am … or I guess I am… “Sometimes they respond by saying “I don’t want to speak of my qualities … I don’t want to seem arrogant; I was taught not to brag about myself.” Any of these answers reflect they don’t know who they are. They are not comfortable with who they are. They’re not knowing is not an intellectual abstract notion of who they are, it is an experiential feeling of who they are. It seems to reflect a discomfort at trying to explore who they are.

When I ask a follow up question “who are you?” They become puzzled. They ask, “at work? … at home?” Sometimes they respond by saying what they do. I respond by saying I didn’t ask what you do … I asked who are you. You are not what you do.

Initially the discomfort increases.

It is hard or perhaps impossible to know emotionally who you are without using the “psychic mirror,” to look into one’s eyes, feel ones breathe, hear and feel the inner voices.

To gain access to the psychic mirror, we need to move past the patterns that we have accumulated in our subconscious. We need to go beyond the external instructions sets that we have been taught. We must enter the mindfulness of the moment.  We need to enter the spirit dimension, the world of essence.

The world of essence reveals our own internal voice and the Voice of Source. It reflects an accurate glimpse of whether we are aligned with universal energy, happiness, purpose. It can also reflect our misalignment. The world of essence energy is like a EGS (Emotional Guidance System)[2] that will show us how to return to alignment.

The path to this EGS system is through the stillness of the deep breath (3 to 6 deep breathes).  The breathing can be done, sitting, walking or standing. The focus needs to be on the breath. If we are walking, the focus can include the wind, nature, what we experience without thinking. We need to be open, curious and attentive to the silence. In the silence, the spirit dimension emerges, the path unfolds.
